LEADING THE WAY IN HEATING –
ELKATHERM ELECTRIC HEATERS –HEALTHY HEAT, LOW POWER CONSUMPTION
An independent study by the renowned BSRIA Institute in the UK confirmed the excellent power consumption and output figures of the ELKATHERM panel storage heaters. The tests were performed with a S 201 heater (rated power 2000 W, H/W/D: 63/162.5/8). The diagrams below are based on the values measured in the BSRIA tests.
Electric panel storage heater
The BSRIA tests were performed with the ELKATHERM S 201 electric heater. This heater has a power rating of 2000 W and measures 63 cm in height, 162.5 cm in width and 8 cm in depth and weighs 73 kg. The storage heater contains 20 fireclay storage blocks protected with 5 single-segment shut-off sections.
Test layout and conditions
The ELKATHERM S 201 electric panel storage heater was placed in a room with a floor space of 16 m². The external walls and the water-cooled ceiling were kept at a constant low temperature. The heat permeable surface of the room was 75.2 m². The heat transfer coefficient was 0.19 W/m² K. These conditions were maintained for all test series, as only the outdoor and indoor temperature was changed from test to test.
1st test series
The outdoor temperature was kept constant at -50.9 °C. The results of the 16-h test show the power consumption and heat distribution in a room heated to 21 °C.
2nd test series
The outdoor temperature was kept constant at -14.1 °C. The results of the 8-h test show the power consumption and heat distribution in a room heated to 16 °C.
3rd test series
The outdoor temperature was kept constant at -20.8 °C. The results of the 3-h test show the power consumption and heat distribution in a room heated to 21 °C.
RADIANT HEAT –WARM ALL OVER
Electric panel storage heaters from ELKATHERM generate radiant and convection heat at an ideal ratio – for extra cosy heat! Radiant heat is the type of heat we get from the sun. It feels nice, but only affects the parts of the body that are directly exposed to it. Radiant heat is thus very energy-efficiency as well as cost-effective. Radiant heat does not affect the humidity of ambient air, and therefore does not cause dry skin or irritated airways. That is why radiant heat is preferred by people suffering from allergies.
Convection heat on the other hand is heat transferred by mass motion of air: The hot air above the heater rises towards the ceiling and then gradually cools down and flows towards the floor and eventually back to the heater. This flow of warm air heats the entire room in a short period of time.
